Client Review of
Off Grid Energy LLC
and
Claudio Martinez
This website is meant as a warning to anyone thinking of doing business with Claudio Martinez of Off Grid Energy LLC based in Puerto Rico.
Unfortunately, I trusted him to install my solar system and provide a decent service. Don't make the same mistake.
Once Claudio Martinez pocketed my check after the installation, he dropped me like a rock. When you are a prospective client, Claudio will pick up the phone and come visit, but once you hand over your money, you're on your own. After-care service is a foreign concept at Off Grid Energy LLC.
My troubles started when he installed faulty devices that burned through shortly after the system went into operation. While I was questioning him why my system was underperforming, he did not bother to check, so only after several months I realized that my 2/3rd of my system was out of commission. He then finally came to retrieve the faulty devices in November of 2021. As of this writing, December 12, 2022, I am still waiting for replacements.
Secondly, Off Grid Energy LLC failed to properly register my system for Net Metering, a simple administrative task. In May of 2021, he made a half-baked attempt to sign me up, but he failed to pay the $100 fee. LUMA did not recognize my electricity production that was fed into the grid, and kept charging me for my full consumption for almost a year. I called, emailed, and texted Claudio Martinez many, many times, to get him to fix this issue, but he couldn't be bothered.
Here's an example of how he communicates (or rather, doesn't communicate) with his clients (from September 28, 2021 until February 28, 2022):
Any call gets an autoresponse "I will call you back later," but he never does. If anyone at all picks up at the company's phone number, even that person cannot get Claudio Martinez to call me back.
On Whatsapp, he told me a story that he had a meeting with LUMA and they knew about my Net Metering not being activated and that my electricity production should retroactively be credited. Still it took several months before Net Metering finally started.
Then, there was no retroactive credit for a year's worth of production. Finally, after many attempts to get an answer from LUMA, they wrote me back effectively saying that Claudio Martinez is full of $h!t.
Multiple times, Claudio Martinez ensured me that LUMA would retroactively account for my production. After finally being turned on for Net Metering, I have an outstanding bill of around $1,000. LUMA does not credit me for a year's worth or production, and writes me that my contractor never paid the $100 he was supposed to pay; and that it is his mistake.
I contacted the sales guy who worked with me, but Claudio doesn't respond to him either.
I called the company's phone number, spoke to contractor Abraham Medina and he told me he was leaving messages with Claudio. But never did I get any response.
Doing business with Claudio Martinez is a waste of your time and money. Stay away from Off Grid Energy LLC.
